Who We Are

Previously established in 1999-2018 as REGEN Forestry, REGEN Natural Resources Ltd. is a natural environment-based forestry consulting company that was established in 2019. The company was originally founded by REGEN's CEO Brent Attwell (Ontario Registered Professional Forester), and expanded its leadership team in 2019 with the addition of Vice President Peetrylia Zammit (Forest Technician), and Project Manager Matthew Dreifelds (ISA Certified Arborist) in 2025. Over the years we have accomplished many projects for both private and public agencies as well as with individual landowners. As we grow, we continue to manage the forest with the same approach, that the forest health is the most important objective, and all the other aspects are secondary benefits.

Our Objectives

• Improve the quality of existing forests through sustainable practices.

• Help landowners understand their forests and make them more environmentally conscious and economically feasible.

• Enlarge the forested areas that have been depleted and prevent further reduction.

Regen Natural Resources has partnered with Forests Canada to significantly reduce the costs of large-scale (500+) tree planting. The Tree Planting Program makes it easier to increase forest cover at a more affordable price for landowners and municipalities.

This planting programs helps to:

  • Reduce soil erosion, improve water quality and stabilize streambanks.

  • Enhance farmland productivity, create habitat and travel corridors for birds and wildlife and boost biodiversity.

  • Expand connectivity with adjacent woodlots and provide shelter from wind and snowdrift.

  • Increase land value, enrich recreational activities, and improve the health and wellness of local communities.

Seed Orchard Management (NeSMA)

NESMA Climate Change Project

NeSMA is conducting several climate change trials whereby assisted migration of southerly species of Jack Pine are being conducted across the Northeast province of Ontario. In these trials different varieties are being monitored for their capability to succeed in different environments. The 11 sites are being monitored and maintained annually to measure their response. A large plantation of third-generation seed orchard stock has been established in the Chapleau area as well.

Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program (MFTIP)

The Managed Forest Tax Incentive Program (MFTIP) helps landowners reduce property taxes on eligible forested land through a 10-year approved plan. Regen provides on-site visits, in-house plan approval, and guidance to ensure your forest is managed effectively.

The program is about understanding your land, supporting good forest management, and discovering the ways a healthy forest can add value to your property.
